Statement From Larry

Dear Friend:

I would like to welcome you to my campaign website. As your Will County Executive, I am your countywide elected official who is responsible for the day to day operations of County government. In this role, I am working full time to address the many challenges our rapidly growing county faces.

I ran for Will County Executive to bring responsible, accountable and visible government to our communities. Since being elected in 2004, and reelected in 2008, my administration has worked cooperatively to bring the County’s financial house in order, create better partnerships with our local governmental bodies, and planned more pro-actively for the future of our region.

Please check back regularly to this website as I will continue to update you with ongoing issues, news stories, and other important information related to my campaign efforts.

Thanks for your support,

Lawrence "Larry" M. Walsh

Walsh in the News - Will County Land Use Department wins Public Integrity Award

1/25/2012 -

The Will County Land Use Department has been recognized nationally for its efforts in bringing government to the people and enhancing the transparency of its operations.  The Department was notified it had won the American Society for Public Administration’s 2012 Public Integrity Award, which will be presented March 6 during the ASPA awards ceremony in Las Vegas. “This is a very important achievement,” said Will County Executive Larry Walsh. “Land Use Director Curt Paddock, and his staff have worked very hard to bring transparency, commitment and caring to all that they do for the citizens of Will County.  This is something we expect of all our departments and I applaud these public servants for raising the bar of expectations of what is now the standard for Will County.”

Walsh in the News - Will County and Waste Management announce landfill gas-to-energy plant opens -

12/16/2011 -

JOLIET – Officials from Will County and Waste Management announced today the gas- toenergy plant located at the county-owned Prairie View Recycling and Disposal Facility is up and  running. The power generated from the methane gas created by decaying garbage is being  harnessed and sent to an electric power grid to be sold to local electricity consumers. Will County Executive Larry Walsh said the completion of this plant will bring an environmentally safe source of energy to residents of Will County for many years to come.    “I applaud the efforts of our Resource Recovery and Energy Division and Waste Management  in moving this project from concept to reality,” Walsh said. “This is another great example of  public-private partnerships that work to serve the needs of our local residents. It also creates a  new revenue source that will pay for important infrastructure projects in the future without cost  to property taxpayers.”

Walsh in the News - Executive Larry Walsh: Will Co. will move on -

7/20/2011 -

County Executive Larry Walsh is looking to do more than weather the financial crisis, he wants Will County to be poised to get ahead when it finally passes. "Will County must always be prepared for the rebound of the economy," Walsh said during his annual state of the county address at Tuesday's board meeting.   Walsh kicked off his speech by pointing out that there is a $13 million gap between expected revenues and expenditures, resulting in "extreme pressures" on the 2011 budget.
